Following a multi-year project of unifying the international accreditation organizations International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and International Accreditation Forum (IAF), a new unified international accreditation organization, Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated, commenced full operational work on 1 January 2026. At the same time, the existing international accreditation organizations ILAC and IAF have ceased operations.

With the establishment of this new organization, a unified Multilateral Recognition Arrangement (MRA) has also been introduced at the international level, simplifying the global accreditation system, improving its efficiency, and strengthening confidence in accredited conformity assessment results worldwide.

Regional mechanisms and peer evaluations continue to operate in accordance with previously established principles and rules, ensuring continuity, stability and reliability of the global accreditation system.

On 24 October 2025, the Accreditation Body of Montenegro obtained Associate Member status in the newly established unified international accreditation organization – Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated.
